A fantastic evening was had by all at the
launch of Ship Shape,
The wine and conversation flowed freely,
and Danny Abrahamovitch ably took on the role of MC, and Jeremy made a lovely launch speech,
which you can read: Jeremy's Ship Shape launch speech
Dorothea was joined on stage by some of her
(extremely talented!) friends. Dorothea explained that she did not write this
collection in a vacuum, and that the influences of music, poetry and of course
her friends, are always present, so we were treated to something of a
soundtrack to her writing life. The crowd enjoyed performances by Malaika’s Poetry Kitchen regulars, Cathy Drake and Esther Poyer, some beautiful singing by Dana Kerstein, singer/songwriter/keyboard player Lucille Findlay and poet Sheree Mack
all the way from
Dorothea was understandably the star of the
show, and really wowed the crowd with some powerful and moving poems from the
collection, she even sang! The few remaining books were immediately snapped up…
