[...] Hearing Dorothea speak her work is a pleasure she has a rich voice that slips easily from her Bajan tongue to a London accent. Often this skill gets lost on the page. Not in this case. As Brathwaite and Jackie Kay agree on the back cover Dorothea has drawn together work that travels across time, across the hair line of the Black woman. She may have cut her long dreads but thankfully they grow on in this book. Was I jealous? Of course I was. What do you think I am? An idiot?
