Ishion Hutchinson

Short biography
Ishion Hutchinson was born in Port Antonio, Jamaica. He is a professor at Cornell University.

He received his MFA in Poetry from New York University. His work has appeared in the LA Review, Callaloo, Caribbean Review of Books, Poetry International and the chapbook, Bryan’s Bay.  He is currently the Meringoff Sesquicentennial Assistant Professor of English at Cornell University and a contributing editor to the literary journal, Tongue: A Journal of Writing & Art.

Far District is his first full-length collection, it won the The PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award for Poetry. Other honours he has received include a Whiting Writers’ Award and the Academy of American Poets’ Larry Levis Prize.
