Kaiser Haq was born in what later became Bangladesh, for the creation of which he fought as an officer in the war of liberation.
He is a translator - Selected Poems of Shamsur Rahman, (Dhaka 1985) and of Quartet, (Heinemann), editor of Contemporary Indian Poetry (Ohio State University Press) and a poet. His four collections include A Happy Farewell and Black Orchid (Aark Arts).
He is currently Professor of English at Dhaka University.
He is currently on a fellowship at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
