Nick Makoha at Northern Poetry Symposium

This year's Northern Poetry Symposium features Nick Makoha.

The Symposium takes place on 3 May at the Sage Gateshead, and there's an action packed day of discussions planned on the theme of poetry in translation and exiled voices. Forward shortlisted poets Nick Makoha and Karen McCarthy Woolf join Dutch poet Elma Van Haren, Ukrainian poet Ilya Kaminsky and the PBS Summer Translation Choice, Austrian poet Evelyn Schlag, and many more.

The incredible US poet Jorie Graham is also reading the night before (2 May) to open the Newcastle Poetry Festival, so it should definitely be worth a trip over to Newcastle!

Last year lots of major poetry organisations and poets were in attendance, as well as the general public, so it was a really positive occasion and a chance to network too!

Bookings are a available online.
