About Roger Robinson

Chosen by Decibel as one of 50 writers who have influenced the Black British writing canon over the past 50 years, he has also published a book of short fiction, ‘Adventures in 3D’ (2001); poetry pamphlets ‘Suitcase’ (2004) and ‘Suckle’, the latter winning the People’s Book Prize in 2009; and his first full poetry collection, ‘The Butterfly Hotel’ was published by Peepal Tree Press in 2012. Roger is the lead vocalist for King Midas Sound, whose critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Waiting for You’ was released on Hyperdub Records.

His one-man shows include: ‘The Shadow Boxer’; ‘Letter From My Father’s Brother’; and ‘Prohibition’ (Battersea Arts Centre). Roger has recently won the T.S Eliot Prize. Roger is a B3 Talentlab Alumni (2014).
