Cultural Development Foundation honours John Robert Lee

We're proud to announce that writer John Robert Lee has been honoured by the Cultural Development Foundation. The CDF, in its efforts to reach out to communities across Saint Lucia and give a voice and platform to artists in every genre of the arts through the National Arts Festival (NAF), partnered with local groups to create a Community Festival, Street Theatre Event, Artist Market, Poetry Live and the Cultural Icon Series As part of the celebrations last weekend, Robert Lee's work featured heavily in a two-hour live special where poetry from across his corpus were expressed through painting, dance and singing. Local poets including Kendel Hippolyte and Robert Lee himself read from the acclaimed Saint Lucian poet’s extensive repertoire, which spans 40 years of masterful writing.

John Robert Lee is a St. Lucian writer who has published several collections of poetry. His short stories and poems can be found in many journals and international anthologies. These include Facing the Sea (1986), The Penguin Book of Caribbean Verse (1986), The Faber Book of Contemporary Caribbean Short Stories (1990), The Heinemann Book of Caribbean Poetry (1992) and The Oxford Book of Caribbean Verse (2005).

John Robert Lee’s latest publication is City Remembrances (2016). Recent publications include Sighting and other poems of faith (2013) and Elemental: new and selected poems, published by Peepal Tree Press (2008). In 2007 he published Canticles, a collection of poems illustrated with his own photographs. Other publications include Artefacts (2000), Saint Lucian (1988) and Vocation (1975).
