Day 15 of the Paper Based Bookshop #AdventCalendar

Written by Barbara Lalla (Professor Emerita, UWI) for Paper Based Bookshop on Saturday, December 15, 2018

Jennifer Rahim’s Curfew Chronicles - A Fiction presents twenty-four hours of a State of Emergency. The novel comprises short stories that intersect or collide with each other, fuse or splinter off – like the lives of its characters. The multivocal text reflects and refracts the conflicting views of these characters in their wide range of vividly drawn settings, taking us into minds that attract, touch, amuse or horrify us. An unsettling and riveting book that nevertheless conveys faith in human compassion and resilience. A must read.
