The translators started the project, working together in Puerto Rico, just a few weeks before hurricanes Irma and María devastated the island. They continued through the subsequent months of intermittent or no electricity, water, or internet; through the scarcity of basic supplies, while facing health challenges of their own. As a result the finished anthology feels like much more than a book: it’s a testament to the determination and the power of women coming together. Like the poems, after each destruction, we find a way to move forward.
