Shara McCallum -- I seriously think is one of the great Jamaican poets writing today. Her career started with a lot of well deserved critical attention and enthusiasm... Get back to reading her now! Lots of people have asked this question: what if that great Scottish poet, Robert Burns, had taken up the offer to go to Jamaica to work as an overseer on a plantation? The ‘what if’ is what McCallum imagines and writes about in ‘No Ruined Stone’ that Peepal Tree will publish in July.
