Paper Based Bookshop Advent Calendar Day 10

Written by Muli Amaye, Coordinator of The MFA at UWI St. Augustine for Paper Based Bookshop on Tuesday, December 10, 2019

This book of short stories is not for the faint hearted. But it is so worth the read. It takes speculative fiction to its limits and makes you question everything you know about life. Her characters are mainly Caribbean women and Ross takes all the pain of living and being and explores it with beautiful empathy and understanding that takes you on their journey. Her characters are people you know, they live next door to you, work with you, are you. Erotica, abuse, loneliness and abandonment are explored fully and not necessarily tastefully but always honestly. This is an absolute must read.
