review of: Comrade Sak by Marc Wadsworth

Written by Marika Sherwood for British Black studies group on Thursday, April 29, 2021

So what does Marc Wadsworth tell us about Saklatvala? (1874 - 1936) All you would want to know. This is a revised edition of a book first published in 1998. Wadsworth revised it as more files, including some from MI5, had become available. [...] The book gives us much, much information on the relationships between politicians and political parties, and their attitudes to Sak and his main concerns; about Sak’s relations and treatment by the Communist Party. And about the social conditions of the workers around the UK, (including the Seaman’s Union lack of support for the underpaid Lascar seamen) which was one of Sak’s main concerns.
