'a striking story'

Written by Rebel Women Lit for Instagram on Friday, May 7, 2021

Remember being a rebellious teen and thinking the previous generation messed everything up for your generation? This story is amplified in Daylight Come where Sorrel is dealing with the effects of climate disaster and sun is everyone’s enemy. Sorrel and her mom plot an escape to the mountains where they hear it’s safer to live freely and away from the government who had taken an authoritarian approach to dealing with this climate disaster. While the mother-daughter relationship is a subplot it’s still a striking story that explores the dynamics of aging and recognizing that your mother is simply human.
