THREE recent works by Guyanese writers show the southernmost end of this Leeds-based publishers’ Caribbean achievement.
Finally, new poems by Rupert Roopnaraine, a leader of Guyana’s Working People’s Alliance, are published in Suite for Supriya. There is a strength and optimism to his lyricism that builds muscles in the most delicate of phrases:

In a leafless season
You invoke a leaf
To tremble in a wind
Under a heavy winter sky
You invoke the moon
To forever elude the sun
They are things of wonder
This leaf, this moon, this ever-persisting sun.
