This rather wonderful novel has very few reviews, so I suspect that not many people knew about it when it was first published in 2014. Minoli Salgado, who lives in England, has Sri Lankan ancestry and was born in Malaysia, came to my attention when her short story collection Broken Jaw (the 88 Press) was deservedly shortlisted for this year's Republic of Consciousness Prize.
