Bookshelf 2023: "flashy, campy"

Some poems in this flashy, campy collection are in Polari or Patterflash lingo (which he defines as “Gossip, chat, ostentatious or pretentious speech; the lyrics pouring out of my gob.”) [...] For example: “If an omi pookers you / how the sharp pagament / of all our charvering thirst / will ochy, sally your ecaf / and screech, / ‘Like this.’” [...] He plays with disguises, remembers his four-year-old self on an expedition with his dad to purchase a long golden wig that made him take flight and dance, presaging the adult he became who puts on occasional drag spectacles under the name of Beyonce Holes.
