Bookshelf 2023: unHistory

The two prolific and justly renowned poets and their poems dialogue, with each drawing on his own readings, listenings, smells, tastes, places, and geographies of the imagination. And both comment freely on the changing worlds around them: for example, Dawes, writing of the Donald, amidst the snows of Nebraska, speaks for many of us when he writes that “the King of Greedy / grows skittish, the petulant monstrosity / works his mealy mouth…. And while his followers grin as they scheme / his return, I sleep with one eye open, no dreams.”
