Short biography
Barsa Ray writes poems and short stories. She’s been selected as a New Northern Poet for 2026 by Word Up North/Ilkley Literature Festival.
Barsa Ray's work has been published in the Peepal Tree Inscribe anthologies Filigree: Contemporary Black British Poetry, Weighted Words, and Sanctuary.
Barsa's short stories publications include Wasafiri, Mslexia, and Sans Press. Her work was nominated for the BBC National Short Story Award 2026. Her poetry has been published by Magma, Covert Literary Magazine, and Indian Literature, among others.
She has also published the zine Homo Arboribus (Skear Zines) that examines the interconnectedness of humans and the natural world.
