Marc Wadsworth shares his experience working with Stephen Lawrence's family and campaigning against institutional racism in the UK. This speech was given on a panel marking Stephen Lawrence's murder at the inaugural Leeds International African Arts Festival.
Marc is an award-winning Black rights campaigner, writer, broadcaster and BBC filmmaker. He is also the author Comrade Sak (Peepal Tree Press), a biography of Shapurji Saklatvala: Indian anti-imperialist, Indian British MP, and communist. His book is an important study of African, Caribbean and Asian working class history in Britain during the 1920s and 1930s. The Independent described the book as “thorough, well-researched and rich”.
