We're thrilled to announce that Inscribe-supported writer Gemma Weekes has been named a runner-up for the Kit de Waal scholarship at Birkbeck, University of London. Though she doesn't receive the scholarship, she will receive 'lots of support' during her MA in Creative Writing.
Inscribe’s Maya Chowdhry recently appeared at the launch of the Poetic Places app to give a talk on her Tales from the Towpath project.
The app, which is being championed by the British Library and TIME/IMAGE, aspires to give a renewed sense of place, to bring together written works, images and sounds to mean more than they do alone, and to bring literature into people’s everyday life in unexpected moments, allowing users to enjoy poetry and literature written about particular locations.

The Poetry Prize went to Wife by Tiphanie Yanique (Peepal Tree Press)
The Fiction Prize went to The Pain Tree by Olive Senior (Cormorant Books)

Another Crossing tells the stories of an individual life, of a family, of the communities of Chapeltown and Harehills, and of crucial moments in the making of Leeds as a place where cultures meet.

Entries are currently being accepted for the SI Leeds Literary Prize, the biennial prize for unpublished fiction by Black and Asian women!
With patrons including Monica Ali and Bernadine Evaristo, the prize aims to celebrate the voices of Black and Asian female writers in the U.K., and address the under-representation of these women in U.K. publishing.
