True to its name, the Miami International Book Fair is keep its eye on vistas beyond its own shores, and we're thrilled to see a slew of Caribbean writers on show throughout the programme.
Peepal Tree writers at the festival include Olive Senior (The Pain Tree), Tanya Shirley (She Who Sleeps with Bones and The Merchant of Feathers), Sharon Millar (The Whale House and other stories), Geoffrey Philp (Uncle Obadiah and the Aliens and Dubwise), Rhoda Bharath (The Ten Days Executive and other stories), Shivanee Ramlochan (from Coming Up Hot: 8 new poets from the Caribbean), Donna Aza Weir-Soley (Caribbean Erotic), Ishion Hutchinson (Sounding Ground) and Jacqueline Bishop (The Gymnast and Other Positions). Other Caribbean writers will also be present.
The 2016 Miami International Book Festival runs until 20 November, at the Miami Dade College (Wolfson Campus) in Downtown Miami. The ReadCaribbean element of the book fair was created in partnership with Sosyete Koukouy, ReadJamaica, and the Bocas Lit Fest and is sponsored by the Green Family Foundation and the Knight Foundation.
